A local pastor and his congregation are working to build the highest cross in the country atop a hill in Bossier but they have run into some even bigger obstacles.
Which is why Andy Harris the pastor of Central Assembly of God is working to build an almost 200 foot cross on top of a hill outside his church. Harris says the cross would be seen by thousands of motorists traveling down Interstate 20, Interstate 2-20 and Highway 80.
A code in Bossier Parish says structures in a residential/agricultural district ca not be higher than 45 feet. Pastor Harris says that code is out of date.
Harris says he and his congregation are hoping and praying the board will give them a variance... And they'll be able to put up the massive cross for everyone to see.
The bossier MPC will meet Monday at 2 p.m. to decide on the issue.
Harris says if it is passed they will start building the cross the next day.
