A Bossier Parish church will not be allowed to erect a 200-foot cross on a hill just east of Bossier City.
A zoning board has rejected a variance for Central Assembly of God, which wanted to erect the white cross off U.S. 80.
Zoning restrictions prohibit structures in a residential-agricultural area from being higher than 45 feet. A special exemption would have to be made.
The vote against the variance was 4-1.
